    Fine Silver is Pure Silver, identified by the markings .999 999 FS FS999 or FINE SILVER.  It is more expensive, softer and more pliable than Sterling Silver.

    Sterling Silver is made from melting 92.5% Fine Silver with 7.5% Copper (and possibly some other trace metals) is identified by the markings .925 925 SS or STERLING SILVER and is harder than Fine Silver.
